Silly Sibling Sunday

Silly Girls, originally uploaded by torri_g.

You would never guess we had the week that we did if you had watched these three in action with each other today. Sweetpea was the only one that didn't need to be picked up from school, make a trip to the clinic, or to the ER this week. Since she started off the month of September I guess her sister's felt the need to end the month.

Binky Sue's pain faded like everyone thought it would. Little Bug's seizures ended and she rebounded the way that I prayed she would. We have to go get some blood work done for her tomorrow...but I haven't told her that yet.(If you ever had to deal with her for it, you wouldn't tell her in advance either!)

With our crazy week over, I'm hoping for some peace to set into the house this week. Army Guy is on leave most of the week, and I'm hoping to be able to just chill out with him for those days of leave. There really isn't to much more for this week, so I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Sunday filled with lots of laughs, and silliness. Here is hoping that this week will be a much calmer, slower paced week.

Puff wants a turn

Puff , originally uploaded by torri_g.

Since this week has been just a little on the busy side with kids, I'm not about to try and chase down cats or dogs for photo's this week. So into my photo files I started looking and with Puff sitting just to the side of my desk chirping loudly enough for 20 lovebirds, I think Puff wants a turn being the featured animal for Feline and Furball Friday.

Don't worry about Puff playing with the cats and dogs this week, Puff has proven time and time again in this house that he just isn't afraid of any of those four legged animals. Puff will stand his ground, and if all else fails he knows to fly for Mom's shoulder and she will protect him. About the only thing that Puff fears, is fellow lovebirds Honey and Mango. Honey struck a blow to one of Puffs claws last weekend that left him bleeding, and would seem that now he just no longer wants to even try to be birdie friends with the mean two some in the other cage. Which is fine though because Puff knows who the best person to hang out with is...Me! Mom gives treats, and all of the other good things that any animal really needs. Puff has taken to hanging out with me while doing small chores in the kitchen, and has learned that he loves taking his bathes not in a simple water dish in his cage, but in the big huge sink! If Mom gets the water temperature just right and the flow of the water out of the tap set just low enough...there is nothing better in his little bird world.
I have found that every animal in this house has the ability to make me smile or laugh, but Puff and his antics are some of the best.

It is time for Feline and Furball Friday over with Steve and Pickle again, so if you want to play along just post you own entry and leave a link in comments. I will come back later to post the link over to their page once they have posted today. I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

No dull moments this week

Lonely Playground, originally uploaded by torri_g.

There is no such thing as a dull moment in the house this week. Two of the three girls have been seeing to it that Mom and Dad are being kept on their toes here. Binky Sue started it (yes I think I'm going to place blame this week...alright just kidding) she came into my room at 0500 Tuesday morning crying about being in so much pain. Of course hearing those words any Mother will fly up out of bed. The pain was localized and right in the area of either her appendix or right ovary. By the way a very good question from Binky Sue for all of the Mother's of the world...why is it we hear the words I'm in pain Mom and we either touch, push, or ask them to move whatever it is that hurts? Anyway, I was lucky enough to get on the phone at 0730 and get an appointment for her at 0750, which of course meant flying through the house to get ready and out the door in less than 3 minutes. Exam, blood work, X-rays, clinic computers being down, two hours later no real answers other than it isn't this, this, or this and how about we let you go home and get her settled in her comfy bed and we will call you later once all of the tests come back. Oh but just in case it is an appendix going hot lets do an all clear liquid diet, and one more thing it could be cysts on the ovary. Alright so back home and sit and wait for a phone call which takes till just about 1500 (3:00 pm) to finally come in. "Well we are sure it really isn't this, this, or this now...so it looks like it is something to do with the ovary, but we have this great idea for a last ditch try." Boy did Binky Sue not like this one! The dreaded last ditch rule out? Let's do a laxative to make sure that it isn't anything with that causing the pain. Thought is if the pain goes away with using it then we have our answer, if the pain stayed we would know that we needed to have abdominal ultrasound done to take good look at the ovary. Now here is the really good part of being Mom. Look at your 17 year old child who is in pain already because of something going on in her body that you don't have an answer for just yet...who hasn't had anything real to eat in over 20 some hours and is having hunger pains now also..and tell them that you are going to give them a laxative which is going to cause gas pains. It quickly turned into one of those days where being the Mom was not such a great job. The last ditch try didn't work and we did end up having more tests done yesterday to finally find the real cause of all of it. It is a swollen ovary, which we are now in a holding pattern for one more day to see if the pain goes away on it's own.(Please let it go away on it's own!) Basically other than the pain that she is having she is fine...well other than seeming to be very irritated with adult type people this week. Binky Sue insisted on making the return to school today, I think to avoid her Mom asking her a million more times about the pain, and I thought today might be a calmer day. WRONG!!

Little Bug had to throw her hat into the ring for making life interesting! Imagine my surprise when the phone rang at 0800 this morning and it is the middle school nurse informing me that Little Bug had collapsed while entering the school building this morning and had a seizure. (I think it is time for me to start sleeping in my clothes this week so that I don't have to fly through the house trying to find things.) Oh but not just any small type seizure here today for her...oh heavens no! She went full blown, five minutes long, weakness, the whole nine yards for this one. By the way dead zones in a building are really annoying when you are trying to make a call to get Daddy of child to meet you at home and help get a child into the house. A quick piggy back ride into the house and Daddy is back out the door because he has to get back to work and Mommy quickly realizes that Little Bug is going for another round of seizure, five minutes later it ends, and then repeat. Hmmm...I know it has been two years since the last time we had to use Ativan...but where in the world is that bottle? I remember where it is...now please let this work. Good news is that Little Bug has now been sleeping for a couple of hours because the Ativan that hasn't been needed for two years did work. Bad news is that I need to call and fight to get a new prescription of it, and I know beyond a doubt that something has changed and is going on. Which means the fight with Dr. OCD is going to happen. The other bad is that odds are Little Bug is going to spend a good share of time sleeping here today and when she does wake up, she is probably going to be very sore from the one heck of a work out that she had with the seizures here today. I'm going to hope and pray that there will be no more because I'm sure she has had more than enough.

I know this post is running really long here today, but give me this one time to just get a little bit of stress off of my chest here. The old empty playground last week called out to me to have a picture of it, and today I think it is the most fitting photo for this entry. There is no playing going on this week, life is moving way to fast to take time to play. I do hope that this week isn't moving at such high speed for everyone, and maybe come this weekend things will calm down some here in this house.

Random Monday Morning

100b9251, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Last week when I headed up into Huachuca canyon I was happy to see the mass gathering again of the California Sister butterflies near the stream. They were not as easy to shot pictures of this time though because of the stream, and the fact that I didn't bother to wear my hiking boots. Really not a good idea to try rock jumping across wet rocks in a a running stream while wearing tennis shoe with no grip. After almost losing my balance twice I quit so as to not lose the camera to a watery grave, and went to using as much zoom as the camera would give me and waiting for them to land closer to me. Would have been a great day to have my telephoto lens with me, but my plan for the day was to be able to get as close up and possible.

I hope that the week gets off to a great start for everyone.

The Dogs Win!

P9195172, originally uploaded by torri_g.

For Feline and Furball Friday today I figured I would go with which ever of the zoo here would pose the best for me. Well, the dogs win and not only do they win Mia managed to get a picture with her tongue sticking out at me too. With the bribe of a treat I had both of the dogs sitting on the floor together, but as soon as Trinity heard the auto focus of the camera she jumped for higher ground. She isn't about to let anyone see her sitting by her sister Mia, I mean what would all of the other big dogs think? Sitting for a picture with you younger puppy sister is just so not doggy cool. Notice the look on Trin's face...it is the look of "Gosh you are such a baby".

Alright it is time for Feline and Furball Friday over with Steve and Pickle. If you want to play along all you have to do is post your own and leave a link in comments. I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

Feline and Furball Friday with Steve and Pickle

Early Morning Start

Praying Mantis, originally uploaded by torri_g.

No real reason to be up so early this morning other than the fact that over half of my family is up by 0500, and today seemed to be a morning of lots of noise being made. It is alright though because as I opened windows in the living room I found the perfect thing to photograph sitting outside on the brick wall. Yes I was standing outside at 0600 in my pj's getting pictures of the praying mantis! I personally can't think of a better way to start the day. Now if I can just get a picture of a feline, furball, or feathers it will truly be a great Friday.

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful start to their Friday, and I will be back later in the day with my Feline and Furball Friday post.

Quick Constrution

100_9197, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Another week and another picture of the construction going on across the way. They are flying through building these and it is starting to look like at least three are going up daily now. From the time I shot this picture yesterday afternoon to this morning I think there are two more frames up, so this morning it doesn't even look like this picture anymore.

One bad thing about the construction going on so close to the house, the night time temps are so cool now I have been opening windows so air conditioner won't run. Bad thing is these guys get started with their work day at 0545, and by 0600 there are the sounds of hammers, and other equipment echoing across the ravine area. Guess they are the new alarm clocks for all of us who have houses across from them.

I hope that everyone has had a good week so far, and that today is great day.

Oh Little Bug

P9175170, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Two more months till Little Bugs next appointment with neurologist and we seem to be racking up a laundry list of things here. This is little girls 5 time having to be picked up early from school, and starting to concern the school nurse and myself. They are starting like nothing more than a possible migraine headache, and then quickly moving into something much more than that. As I'm sitting here typing and watching her I'm seeing the all to familiar movements of seizure activity while she is sleeping. Only good thing about them being while she is sleeping is that she will not now what went on and start to worry about seizures.

My thoughts here are that come her appointment in November I need to push Dr. OCD into listening to me again. It has been 3 years since her last MRI and nearing 2 years since her last EEG, and I think like it or not it is time for both of those to be done again. Oh joy...just the thought of trying to get Dr. OCD to agree to anything is such a wonderful thing...NOT!

Good thing about these episodes of her's they have been fast and her rebound time is record setting times really. The bad news is that with today's round I'm starting to feel that Mother's worry that hits with this. The worry of why suddenly we are seeing this happening. Till November though we watch, and keep track and so do the people at the school. Dr. OCD never likes when I show up with the list of what all has gone on here and what the people at the school have seen, it usually means that I'm going to stand my ground with him and not let him just blow her off. Awe...let's all feel bad for the doctor now. Alright now that this has taken me forever to type up since I've been watching her and amount of time for this round, I hope that everyone has had a great Wednesday, and I'm off to write down today's info.

What is it?

What is it?, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Alright we are playing the guessing game with this one. I have looked at several different sites trying to figure out just what this one is and have so far turned up nothing. It has a body like a dragonfly, very thin wings, and has been sitting in this spot on the wall since this afternoon. If you have any guesses let me know. Until then I'm going to keep looking to see if I can find out just what this interesting little thing is.

I hope that everyone is having a good week so far.

The Siblings Sunday Return

The Siblings, originally uploaded by torri_g.

It has been a couple of weeks since I took time to do a sibling post, so here they are with their return. Of course getting all three of them to pose for a photo was the biggest issue on this lazy day Sunday, but a few well placed "Because I said so" and we have picture!

I will start with Little Bug in the middle. Of course now that she is taller than her older sisters, they think we need to come up with a new name for her. Anyway, Little Bug has been doing just fine and already has a count down going for her birthday in October. Oh wait...that count down started in July! This week she decided that she is going to be a part of the yearbook team and is very excited about working on that. I would comment on progress report for her but I have yet to really see any for her. Guess it is time for Mother to mention that I know they should have come out and that no matter what they are I really would like to see them.

Binky Sue has had an interesting couple of weeks here. She couldn't wait for official progress reports to come out so she got all of her grades and created her own for us with comments about just why each of her grades were what they were. Her grades were great by the way and still trying to figure out why she was in such a rush about getting them. Binky Sue has been really tired this week, and I'm thinking it is mental exhaustion that is going on for her. Binky Sue has two periods each day where she works with special needs students. It was her choice to do this, and something that she really wanted to do this year. Having been special needs herself and this being her final year she wanted to help other kids. At the start of the year this wasn't as difficult a job as it has turned into. The teachers quickly noticed that Binky Sue has a way of connecting on a level with a couple of the more sever special needs kids that no one else can. After talking to her and to me, Binky Sue wanted to do the one on one work with the students. What I have been seeing this week is that "In my own time" boy and "Fidget" girl have days of wearing my girl out mentally. Enough so that Binky Sue had one night this week of waking up at 3:00 AM and getting ready for school and trying to convince the rest of us that our clocks were all wrong, and all while still really being asleep herself. She wants to help these students so much, and when she thinks about the fact that they are both 19 and in their final year of school and she is helping them to learn how to write simple grocery lists, I think it overwhelms her a bit. "In my own time" boy took 30 minutes to write the word bread out the day of her sleep walking. "Fidget" girl would only stay on task if promised that Binky Sue would read "The Cat in the Hat" to her. Binky Sue wonders if everyone has done everything that they can for them, and wants to give them everything she can this year. She is however taking in different Dr. Seuss books because she really doesn't want to read "The Cat in the Hat" five more times this week. Thank goodness we have a huge collection of the books.

Sweetpea...my Sweetpea is getting the most tender heart award for today. Her and Little Bug went out to the playground before dinner time tonight and she ended up protecting two little girls out there playing from being hurt worse. They were heading back home when Sweetpea realized that there were two older boys throwing rocks and hitting the little girls. She ran to cover the littlest one from the rocks being thrown at her head. She sent Little Bug running to the house for a parent, and kept both girls with her till I got over there. She helped me get them back to their own home. Once back home she fell apart about how mean children can be to one another. She would have loved to beat each of the boys that were doing it, but said that hitting them wouldn't be anymore right than what they had done. I'm proud of her for keeping the girls safe from further injury, one of the girls was punched and has a black eye. I'm proud of her for keeping calm until I got there, at which time was when she started crying. I'm proud of her for caring so very much about these very little girls that she wouldn't just go into our house like I asked her to while I took them to their home. She wanted to make sure that they were safe. I think she was a little upset about the fact that they were sent right back out to play after just a couple of minutes, and if she wasn't I was enough for both of us. It worked out well for her homework that is due tomorrow about free moral agency and free will, now if she could just find the examples of it in the book that she is reading.

Alright that is it for the return of the siblings. We hope that everyone has had a great weekend and that there is a good calm week ahead for all of us.

Little Fuzzy

100_9190, originally uploaded by torri_g.

While waiting to leave to get Army Guy from the airport this afternoon, I spotted little fuzzy guy crawling up the inside of the patio screen. Since his flight out of Dallas kept getting delayed, taking pictures of this was a good way to distract me from looking at the clock none stop. Well, it kind of helped.

All of us girls drove up to Tucson to get Army Guy and hugs were given as soon as luggage had been retrieved. Once back in town we went out for dinner and enjoyed having our guy back with us.

I hope that everyone is have a good weekend spent with family and hopefully there are lots of hugs.

I'll scratch your eye's out!

I'll scratch your eye's out!, originally uploaded by torri_g.

There are very few times when I think Eclipse would actually attack anyone. However, while trying to get some pictures of her laying down on her girl Binky Sue's back while she is sleeping on the couch, Eclipse sat straight up and gave me the dirtiest looks. I'm willing to bet that if I had gotten any closer to her sleeping girl with my camera, I would have walked away with one heck of a scratch/clawing. If you want to see another picture from further away click on this one and you can see Binky Sue with Eclipse sitting protecting her.

It is Friday, which means time for Feline and Furball Friday over with Steve and Pickle. If you want to play along just post your own and leave a link in comments. I will post link over to Steve and Pickle later tonight.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Construction of new things

New construction, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Since I had two years to be able to show the destruction of old housing here on base, last week when they finally started the new construction I figured I could show that now. I'm thinking maybe a weekly shot of it is in order because they seem to be moving at very high speed with the construction of these. The first two are now to the point where they have their wood tops on and are solid. The crane is done near new house 7 lifting the rafter beams up. They have even worked during the rain that we have been having this week.

Today seems to be a day of lots of thoughts of things for me here. Thoughts of Army guy being home with family for his Uncle's funeral today. Thoughts of my father's birthday today and him being gone, which I will admit is probably the first time that has happen. Of course there is lots more, but I'll spare you listing them all out. I hope that today everyone can find something to smile about. Show someone that you love and care about them. Have a good day.

If you didn't want to love me...why did you get me?

Sad puppy, originally uploaded by torri_g.

I have a rule when photographing things that I don't shot pictures of things in other people's yards. If it is my yard it is fair game, in a public area in the housing area it is more than fair game unless it is a child of course. This little girl though as of this morning since I know that I am the only one that has spoken to her or spent time outside with her, even if it was while I was out with my own dogs, her face is through the fence into my yard which makes it more than enough fair game for me to shot a picture of her. I know her name is Hanna or however it might be spelled. She is maybe four to five months old, oh so very cute and just oh so very sad. She is an outside all the time dog and in the last couple of weeks no one comes out to play with her. Well, except for Trinity, Mia and myself on our daily million trips out to the back yard. I noticed this week that every time me and one of my puppy girls make a trip out the door, little miss sad come bounding out showing just how very happy she is to have company out there. It isn't just when I have the dogs out there that she is happy. I have stepped outside to take pictures of construction going on across the way on new housing and little miss sad has made if very clear that she would just so love some attention. I think it is the rolling around in the grass to her back looking at me with that look of "Please rub my tummy" that is getting to me. She has food, she has water, she I believe has a small shelter over there in her yard. When she first came home she had lots of love and attention, and in the last couple of weeks there just hasn't been any. Looking at her this morning I can't help wondering if the thought going through this little girls mind is "If you didn't want to love me...why did you get me?"

It is Feline and Furball Friday time over with Steve and Pickle. If you want to play along just post your own and then leave a link in comments. I will even try to make sure that I get a link posted to take you over to their blog this week.

To irratated to blog

P9025132, originally uploaded by torri_g.

Every now and then you just don't have many nice things to say, and it is usually a good idea to just be quiet. That is pretty much what has happened to my blogging since last Friday. It is the tons of little things that get with you quicker than the big things in life and the little things started adding up quickly.

Alright let me play some catching up here:

Sweetpea- All test came back looking fine so doctor went with calling it muscle strain and said to give it another week and all should be fine. Hmm...tomorrow is the end of that yet another week and guess what? It isn't fine...actually it is still hurting just as much as when we were in last week. I guess that means that we will get to play the game with the doctor all over again. Gosh if that doesn't just make a person happy I really don't know what will. Now I know that I'm not a doctor, but there are some things that I do know and no matter how long I live I will never like being treated like I'm an idiot by anyone!

Wow! Already irritated yet again by this topic. I think I will move on to other things instead.

Half way through the first quarter here for school and progress reports are due out next week already. If I get around to either scanning or taking a picture of what Miss Binky Sue did, I have a funny post to make about her. Speaking of my Miss Binky Sue, she seems to be going through a very emotional time with this year. Our conversations seem to be leaning more and more to fears of what's next. It isn't that she doesn't want it, she just wants the year to go a little slower.

Little Bug is doing well, but has had a couple of early home from school days because of getting slammed with...well not really sure just what. One episode I can say was seizure activity, she doesn't get that incoherent without a seizure going on. The other episode, I really don't know what that one was, which is kind of a bothersome thing for me. Little Bug has shown in the last four years that things with her will change very suddenly, and leave everyone trying to figure it out. Her next neurology appointment is in November, and we have to get blood work done prior to that, and in the mean time we just keep track of what all is going on. But the good thing is that I get to deal with Dr. OCD who will just really treat me like I'm an idiot who knows nothing! Hmm...do you think I might be having some real issues with people treating me like I'm an idiot? Nah...that can't be it.

Alright since there really isn't much else for me to talk about without getting into a real crabbing kind of mood here, I hope that everyone is having a good week, and I will try to get back into some more regular posting.
